USA MAY 2016: MAINE TRIP

The Route

28-May from Wood bridge New Jersey by Car. Had first halt at Ashokan Reservoir around 11.30 . it is massive water body with a large Fountain in the Garden. Must see enroute.

Took a Lunch halt on the way around 1.30pm. Then drove to Lake Placid , a total distance of 302 Miles and reached our Hotel Quality Inn around 4.30 pm . After a short break went to Mirror Lake for a short walk. Enjoyed the small beach of the lake.

29-May After breakfast drove to White Face Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway. There is a Entrance ticket of 8$ per adult. The road is very scenic and you reach the Castle on top for Parking.

You have two options to go to Top of the Hill, by elevator and by stairs. We took the stairs , a short but steady going up the hill. Enjoyed each step with beautiful views. Views from Top are very nice but flies are far too many to trouble you. We came down by the elevator.

30 May .Checked out of Hotel after breakfast and then drove to Ski Jump Complex. The ticket is 11$ for Adult. Go to top of 220 Mtr jump to realize how it is to jump from such a height.

Drove to Town of Essix took about 1hour 30Mins. To take the ferry across the Lake Champlain to Charlotte . It is 30 mins ride but is very scenic. Ticket for ferry is car with driver is 10$ and 4 $ for additional adult.

On the other side of Lake Champlain, we drove to North Conway .Stopped briefly at Water Fall and George.

Reached our Hotel Comfort Inn, North Conway. This was the best hotel that we stayed during our entire trip.

31-May after Breakfast we drove to top of Mount Washington.It is called auto Road. The charges were 29$ for car ,driver and 1 adult , other paasengers it was 9$ each. The road is steep with view points enroute to stop and enjoy the nature. The Top is very very windy and cold. There is a observatory, café and museum in one building.

The museum is free entry and is MUST SEE. Having spent about 1hour and Half we drove down.

Then took the road to Bar Harbour. It was a long drive of over 3 and half hours after getting down from Mount Washington. We arrived in our hotel Quality Inn, 40 Kebo st, around 4.30pm. Checked In and rested. Then went out for a walk and Dinner. Enjoyed freshly cooked Lobsters.

1-Jun We went for Lobster fishing by Lulu’s Boat in the Morning at 9.45AM. The boat was good with ample sitting. We first went to Light House to see the Seals. There were number of Seals and cubs too on the rocks of Light House. Some came near the boat to check our boat.

We also saw a Dolphin. There after we went to see the cages of Lobsters. First 3 Cages there were no Lobsters. In the fourth cage we got 4 Lobsters.

The Capt gave lot of information on Lobsters. We returned around 1PM.

Went around Acadia National Park. It is 27 km loop by road but is awesome natural beauty. We also enjoyed on beach in the Park.

2-Jun Today was relaxed day, went for Bird watching to Acadia Park and after lunch drove to Port Land.

It was a short journey of 170 miles. We checked in our hotel Clairon, 1230 Congress St,04102

Around 6.30 PM

3 Jun. After breakfast went to see biggest rotating Globe at Delorim Office complex at Yarmoth and then saw Light Houses, Spring Point, then Bug Light House and William Park.

4-Jun Today we had a long journey to Lake Winnipesaukee. We reached there around 3PM and checked into Hotel Comfort Inn,53 St,Ashland. After rest we went enjoy the lakes beach.

There after we hunted for water fall which turned out to be a village’s name. We then drove to Castle in Clouds but were late and found it closed.

5-Jun Today we drove initially to Kittery Factory outlets
